Or better, suspend warping. After thinking about possible PoR applications (immediately after getting Sanctuary, for example), I realized that I have never seen it used in any run (AoS, DoS), even though it should save quite a bit of time.

check the HoD Juste TAS. that one uses savewarps up the wazoo. and i'm sure a nonTAS would use them just as much, if not moreso. my patience is wearing thin for that one.

refresh me. when you suspend, where do you respawn? at the entrance to the room? and can you copy saves with suspend files?

and what good would it do? cause in DoS, you can't copy a copied file if you mess up. i found that out way too late, which is why segment 3 or 4 of my DoS run was redone. did they fix this in PoR?

Forgot about the HoD TAS. HoD sends you back to the last save point, though, but in AoS, DoS, and PoR, you respawn at the doorway you came from. As for messing up, you just start over from the last real save point, which is why suspend warp is probably the better word. This is useful if you enter and leave a room through the same doorway, or if reaching the exit from your position after doing whatever you entered the room for would take you longer than going there from the entrance, depending on whether you're going for ingame- or real time.

thought so. i'll take a look at my DoS run later and see if that could be implemented somewhere. really, i can't think of anything off the top of my head.

if you really wanted to, you could do it at any dead end. it's just that one screen rooms won't yield much use out of suspending. suspending would benefit after:
- killing Balore
- killing Malphas (depending on where you are when you kill him)
- getting Succubus soul (maybe)
- the center room
- getting the Silver Stud

not much else for DoS. may be a different story for PoR.

Yeah, you're probably not going to shave off minutes, but a timesaver is a timesaver. You could even save half a second at the beginning of every segment by warping to the entrance of the save room.
