Post subject:  Are Maria and Annette really sisters?

while Maria has always called Annette "sister", i don't think they're actually sisters.

in Rondo, when Richter rescues Maria, she calls him "brother", even though they have never met prior. also, when Maria rescues Iris and Tera, she calls them "sister" too. this way of speaking sounds like some weird way of addressing people in Japanese. like a cuter way of saying Mister or Miss.

not to mention, if Maria and Annette were really sisters, wouldn't she most likely know Richter considering he and Annette are a couple?

unless somewhere it was clearly stated "Annette is the older sister of Maria" or the like, i'd say that Maria and Annette are not related at all. maybe DXC will elaborate on this, or even retcon it. but as it stands, are they really related, or is this all a misunderstanding?

on a side note, where was Annette during SotN?

They're sisters only in the non-canonical spinoff dracula xx. In that one Maria is also not related to Richter unlike rondo/sotn which states she's a relative.

well either way I still say it's okay if Maria and Richter got married. :P

wtf indeed. sister or not, Annette would not be happy. besides, didn't one of SotN's endings hint at Maria loving Alucard?

Indeed, people sometimes address others with niisan (brother) of neechan (sister)in Japan.

Richter didn't really act like a brother who's saving his sister.
