yeah it would be a great speedrun if someone manages to clear it after they have defeated all the bosses in both castles before proceeding to the final boss that is fought.

That kinda speedrun would be a lot more interesting and challenging cause otherwise people will just take shortcuts to the end and those aren't interesting.
personally I felt SOTN originally should of made it required to beat all the bosses before having access to the last room in the inverted castle, its cheesy skipping bosses.

but yeah how about it, anyone gonna do it?

you don't necessarily need a hidef TV. you just need a TV that has component input and supports progressive scan.

waaaa. are there converters that can get around that for normal TVs?

there are, but they're extremely expensive and not too practical for this purpose.

to clarify what i would do for a SR, all bosses probably wouldn't happen as its a rather rudimentary goal. in a speedrun, shortcuts are encouraged, almost to the point of being required. the only place shortcuts might not be used and all bosses would apply here is 100%, and i'm not sure exactly how percentage is tracked in DXC.

here are the categories that are more probable:
New Game bad ending
New Game good ending
Maria bad ending
Maria good ending

i say New Game instead of Richter because rescuing Maria and using her after Stage 2 like i did in my RoB playthrough is much faster than just using Richter the entire game. so what if using Richter shows more skill? so what if Maria makes the game easier? in a speedrun, the runner should always put their morals aside. speed always comes first.

Percentage in DXC come from unlockables and progression. So basically to get 100% you would need to get all maidens, music CDs, etc which in my opinion is useless for a speedrun and would just turn out to be a fullgame walkthrough.

There's also seperate level speedruns since you can see your time for each stage when you choose stage. Planning would be different from a full game run because instead of planning an overall fastest route through the game, you would have to plan the fastest route for the stage, whether it goes to normal stage or alternate stage.

well then um um call the SOTN Maria video a Boss Slayer/Hunter run or something. :D

SotN is a different case. an all boss run for Maria and Richter is acceptable. in fact, that's the preferred 100% definition at SDA, as 100% map is considered too trivial and boring there. and i agree with them. with Alucard, 100% is all relics and best ending.

running the new SotN is going to be interesting. sometimes the load times are reduced, sometimes they might be even longer than they were on PS1. i'm having trouble doing quick backdashes. i normally use Triangle and Circle, but on PSP i have to kind of reposition my hand to do it properly. and the shoulder buttons feel too fragile for pressing rapid fire. but not having to do Luck Mode to keep your stuff sounds oh so juicy, if that is not just a rumor.

i'll say right here that i hate the command for Mist. thankfully you don't need to use it much, but i had more difficulty getting to Lesser Demon early than i used too, and i always fuck up that jump.

ohhh. welp I wonder if maybe in a few years they'll port DXC and PSP as a collection on the Xbox360 or maybe update XBLA SOTN with PSP SOTN's goodies! I'd pay 1000 pts. for that stuff.

yeesh, SotN Maria is tough to speedrun with. she's extremely mobile, but her faults outweigh that strength. she can't moon jump diagonally, only straight up. but the biggest problem is her lack of power. even her Item Crashes don't have much oomph. Hippogriff and Medusa aren't hard by any means, but Maria can't kill them in a quick enough manner. i imagine Shaft being the same way, if not moreso. i can't get out of the Anti-Chapel alive, even with a few HP Max Ups.

don't quote me on this, but her defense might actually be lower than Richter's.

then again, i've never been good when playing as Richter, so logically i'd have a hard time as this new Maria. the fans wanted a hard mode, they got it with Maria.

Playing as Maria isn't that hard if you have the dragon sub-weapon--it takes care of most bosses--even IC bosses. There are, of course exceptions; you can't just spam the dragon on Olrox & Galamoth, and expect to come out of it alive.

ugh. forgot about Galamoth. yeah, that won't be a fun fight.

i wasn't able to fool around with Seiryu too much. i did try it on Hippogriff, but i kept on missing. i have gotten some use out of Suzaku for killing Axe Armors and Tombstones.

still, a pure speed through requires a lot of skill. both Chapels are problem areas.

Uh is your Richter chewing on his jacket collar? o_o

oh um um anyway ya videos of SOTN Maria in action and beating up the bosses would be fun. ^_^ oh ya why not mix things up a little and beat the easier bosses with different items and item crashes instead of spamming the dragon of oblivion? ^_^
