Hello Persona, you are a legendary speedrun master and I was wondering if you or anyone here will make a Castlevania Portrait of Ruin speedrun video challenge

that is WMV format, in-game sound and in-game music intact, and involves playing through the main game using Maria and Richter (lv.1 capped if you are up for it) through the whole main game (not boss rush), and making sure to beat every single boss before finishing it. but if you wanna go for true 100% as well, have fun.

is anyone interested in making this challenging speedrun video and possibly making a new world record?

oh and sorry but could the videos resolution please but at 640x480 resolution or something not too taxing on video playing speed? thats the maximum my monitor can go, but my comp plays most of the WMV videos at IGN really smoothly (not the quicktime ones).

but yeah that's just a tidbit notice that you don't have to exaggerate the video's resolution.


but like your "Julius Boss Rush single segment", is perfect in visuals, size, format, skill, etc. etc. ^_^

too easy, i request a lvl1 naked new game hard mode 1000.0% single segment no damage run.

No DS capturing equipment = no speed run.

I didn't like how my DoS vid turned out.

any news on a DS2TV kinda thing? I got a DS Fatty that's gathering dust. I'd be willing to open it up.

awww I loved your DoS vids. besides people can just switch to fullscreen mode and its even clearer.


but ya that DS sure is a problem capturing it clearly with a camera or something.

but maybe with some good photography setup, even a direct camera recording might still look sharp and good.

naked? but only the main characters can equip/unequip stuff right? well that would be no fun to watch. and no damage run would be a pain for someone to perfect. and how long would 1000% take? no one will want to download a 200 GB single segment run. =P



I figure Maria and Richter lv. 1 capped would be more fun to watch because they aren't super overpowered like the Sisters and they don't involve having to swap between the menus and the action back and forth like the main characters.

i guess this would be a good place for this.

I'm basically following it while putting in some changes here and there.

first off, I don't like backdash+jump to move around. it's not too reliable to me. walking should be fine for now.

have to look into using darts on Behemoth. I mastered it at Legion, but I forgot to use it on Keremet.

the big switch starts after activating the warp to Sandy Grave. I'd say warp back to Wind's area and continue upward. get the knee strike and glitch to get the Nebula, then go to Nation of Fools. afterwards, go to Sandy Grave and kill Astarte.

that's what I've got so far. I'm trying to think this up as I go. it's a damn shame Sandy Grave has to be done in two trips.

You can partner jump glitch to get the Knee Strike and Nebula early. Then go to Nation of Fools, then onto Sandy Grave while getting the double jump.

The glitch height works, but I didn't try the rest of the stuff after it. If it all works then Behemoth, Keremet and the entire bottom area are skippable.

everything works up until the Nebula. you need the double jump for that. so we're going to have to make 2 trips in that area.

i am at the last save in the file i was working on. my time is 1:30 ish. i guess backdash+jumping does make a difference. now that can definitely be improved. not doing the bottom area shaves off a lot of time. 10 min at least.

and if no one has pointed it out yet, you can use partner jump glitch to get the Gryffon Wing, allowing you to skip Owl Morph altogether.

which reminds me, on my no relic run i tried i never came across the griffon wing. where is it? i totally forgot. i mean, i picked up he owl morph and never noticed.

also, I think it would be better to do City of Haze, then get the double jump. you don't really gain anything by doing CoH later.

ohhh someone is planning a speedrun! Aaaah! if only they could record it somehow.

I think camera with a good focus and position and stability could work.

darn DS, by now portable systems should support a/v cables to play them on TV.

not true. i reached the nebula whip without DJ because i did it when i was playing my no relic run. Persona's right by saying it's reachable with partner glitch. kinda late on this one, but i just reread it and saw this bit. also i might try a naked run since ican't kill the werewolf at level 13 with OAA. damn it pisses me off.
